We haven't been to the drive-in for a while, and we need to go caving, so why not do both?
We will be meeting this Sunday, June 7th, at 2:00 at the big gas station at the Watertown exit off I-40 (exit 239A or TN26, US70). We will head up to Indian Grave Point Cave and see how muddy we can get. Bring a change of clothes.
After caving, we will go to the Stardust Drive-in in Watertown: www.stardustdrivein.com
The movies start at dusk, so we can plan accordingly. We will be watching "Up" and "Night in the Museum". We may grab food somewhere else, but they have a good selection there. If you want to bring your own food in, they have a small ($5 I think) fee for outside food and beverage. Admission is $7 for adults, and $3 for kids 6-11.
This will be a good cave trip for kids and the movies are both rated PG.
Contact me with any questions, and let me know ahead of time that you are coming, and especially if you need anything like a helmet.
Come do one or both!

Dave,

So glad you alerted us about the IGP trip! Mike and I would like to go. Is the route/terrain of the cave OK for our 8 year old? We've got the helmet for him, naturally. Just gauging the difficulty.

Thanks!

Tara

Hey, Dave.

We (3) plan to join you guys at the meeting point tomorrow. Mike asked me if you think we'd really need knee pads on this trip.

Btw, I really enjoyed the Cumberland Caverns Wild Tour. It was more (pleasantly) physically demanding per sq. foot than anything we'd done. Lots of squeezes and belly crawls, which everyone enjoyed. Plus, I'm sure you've heard about their "bubblegum alley", perfect for the 2 young boys on the trip (Gabriel and a 7-yr-old friend). I would NOT encourage that trek for anyone younger than their ages b/c there is a lot of free climbing and plenty of places to tumble.

AWESOME!

Tara

Good to have seen all of you.....muddy. Smiling I still can't believe Noel made it all the way to the back of the Garden of Eden and out without complaining. I think she was trying to impress Gabriel.

I'll put my mostly blurry pictures on Flickr tomorrow and post the link.

We had a great trip. LaCresha had her first cave trip! Also on the trip were Tara, Mike, and Gabreil. Troy and Noal were there, too, along with me and Sticky Feet. Even though we had kids on the trip, we made it all the way back to The Garden of Eden.
We removed 2 bags of trash, but left the remains of a dead animal that might have once been a goat.
LaCresha will be writing the trip report.
